About The Artist

Linda works in water-based mixed media with an innovative, non-traditional approach focusing on texture. She exploits the physical properties of different water-based media and papers and often uses collage to enable her to mix paper surfaces to achieve different textural effects. She enjoys painting coastal subjects and urban scenes including construction sites.

Living near Reading in Berkshire, in 2019 she instigated and co-curated an exhibition inspired by Oscar Wilde’s The Ballad of Reading Gaol. Further inspired by the campaign to Save Reading Gaol to create an Arts and Culture Centre, she organised the Reading Gaol Hug which saw the Gaol surrounded by 1000 people linking hands. In 2020, she co-authored the book 'Reading’s Influential Women' published by Two Rivers Press.

About The Artist

Kerry is a landscape artist, based in West Berkshire. She takes her inspiration mainly from rural and coastal landscapes, and the transformative effects that seasonal and meteorological change have on these. Kerry is especially fascinated by human intervention on the landscape and the resulting tension between permanence and impermanence: ancient monuments and architectural ruins being a favourite theme. In particular, the way these become absorbed into the surrounding environment over time while maintaining some presence of their own.

Kerry works in oils and acrylics, both in her studio and en plein air. Kerry is a member of the Reading Guild of Artists (RGA), the Henley Art and Crafts Guild (HACG) and Open Studios West Berkshire and North Hampshire. She exhibits regularly with the RGA and HACG, and has also had work accepted for exhibition at the Royal Birmingham Society of Artists, Penlee House Gallery & Museum, Penzance, The Badger in the Wall Gallery, North Yorkshire, and ‘The Artist and Leisure Painter (TALP) Open’ at Patchings Art Centre, Nottingham.

‘Wilder’s Folly after the Rain’ was shortlisted for the final round of judging for the 2022 Royal Academy of Arts’ Summer Exhibition and she was selected as a Finalist in the SAA Artists of the Year ’24 competition.

Her work has also featured in Leisure Painter magazine (August 2023 and June 2024) and in June 2022 she had a fun day out at Royal Ascot participating as a ‘Wild Card’ artist in Series 8 of Sky Arts ‘Landscape Artist of the Year’.’
