Impasto Oils and Acrylics
Rachel Goffredo is a self-taught artist specialising in botanicals, seascapes and predominantly Italian landscapes. She draws her inspiration from nature and in particular trips to Italy, where the intricate beauty of the hibiscus flowers in Sicily first caught her imagination.
Rachel especially enjoys the dramatic effects created with palette knives and thick impasto oils and acrylics, which convey movement, texture and vibrancy in her paintings.
Her work has been exhibited at the Holy Art Metamorphosis Exhibition in London in December 2020.

Karen Davies
Landscape and Animal Artist using Oils and Acrylics
I live in Cookham, Berkshire and tend to paint landscapes and animals using Oils and Acrylics.
My work has become looser and more painterly over time, using thicker layers of paint. I am happy to work from good photos and accept commissions. The starting price for my artwork is £180 for smaller works. I also have high-quality Fine Art Giclée Prints of some of the paintings, which cost £40.
I have been painting in oils since I was 15. In 2003 I completed a HND in Fine Art at Reading College of Art and Design (now TVU), which allowed me to explore other mediums such as etching, ceramics, photography and screen printing. I prefer to work in oils and like being able to see the brush strokes in a painting, because I think this makes it more powerful and enhances the composition.
A Spring lockdown Still Life, ‘Daffodils’ (Oil on Board, 30 cm x 40cm). I thought the creamy yellow of the flowers contrasted well with the blue of the tablecloth. I made up the green background though; it just reminded me of Spring.

I work in oil and acrylic and am always looking to exploit the medium – the crispness of acrylic and malleability of oil – sometimes I use both. I try to look for the highlights and emphasise them. Shadows and reflections intrigue me and I look to tell a story. Being a little colour-blind means I see shades more clearly and I try to take advantage of this.
I usually work from my photographs and just enjoy experimenting with subjects and ways of mixing and layering colours on and off the paper. I use big brushes and rollers and at the outset usually have a clear idea of the picture I am trying to achieve; although this is not a rigid plan and I am often surprised!
Art Groups / Exhibitions
I am a member of several local Art Groups and have exhibited at many local exhibitions in Berkshire, Hampshire, Surrey and Oxfordshire including Reading Guild exhibitions, The Reading Art Exhibition, AppART, THAT Gallery and The Reading Contemporary Art Fair.
I am part of the West Berkshire & North Hampshire Open Studios, a member of the Reading Guild of Artists and organised The Reading Art Exhibition for 7 years.
